Coffee Tasting Event Fundraiser Idea
How to put on a successful coffee tasting fundraiser event
Need a fundraiser idea that’ll really perk up your community? Host a fresh brewed indoor or outdoor coffee tasting event featuring a wide-variety of different coffee blends from different parts of the world. Imagine the aroma of more than 50 varieties of coffee being ground and brewed up all in one place – your event facility.
One of the best things about this fundraising idea is that a bag of coffee beans goes a long way, and there is no shortage of bean varieties available for you to choose from and purchase. Most specialty grocery stores carry a large supply with coffee varieties from all over the world. You can also order any variety of coffee beans that you want online. You can of course try and get the coffee beans donated, but given that your actual out-of-pocket costs per cup of coffee will be so low, it probably isn’t necessary. We do however recommend that you get several quality coffee brewers loaned out for the event. You can return them the next day.
You will also need a few tables to act as brewing stations. Have a few chairs available as well, and decide on what you want to provide for tasting cups. Small paper cups (with lids) like the ones you get in coffee shops are inexpensive and should do the trick.
As long as you have access to electrical outlets or power generators, you can host your coffee tasting fundraising event just about anywhere you wish, including parks, gymnasiums, street sidewalks, and more. Let people taste as many different coffee varieties as they wish in return for a donation to your cause. Or you can charge an entrance fee of around $10, which should net you a profit of around $8 per person, assuming you purchase all of the coffee beans rather than getting them donated. You can also sell bagels, muffins, cookies, and other food treats for added profit. Make the event even more engaging by having people vote on their favorite coffee and announce the winner on your social media pages. Be sure to tag the winning brand. Try and get some local businesses to sponsor the event.
Also, be sure to come up with a clever name for your event, and create some buzz and excitement among the community by promoting your fundraiser through various channels. Utilize social media platforms (including Facebook Groups), email newsletters, flyers, and posters to spread the word. You can also contact local newspapers and radio stations to see if they will mention your event. Highlight your cause and emphasize the fun, excitement, and uniqueness of the event! You may want to consider hosting your event between the hours of 7am to 2pm to get the most traffic.
Be sure to contact your local city or county for any needed permits. You’ll want to start promoting this event at least 1-month in advance.
